From Motihari to Dubai: CIMAGE Alumnus Atul’s Journey and AI’s Evolution in the IT Industry

From a modest beginning in Rajapur to managing key banking operations in the heart of Dubai, Atul, a proud alumnus of CIMAGE College, Patna, represents not just personal triumph, but the global potential of CIMAGE students. His journey, filled with determination, discipline, and forward-thinking, is a shining example for aspiring IT professionals. But beyond personal success, Atul’s story also sheds light on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in reshaping the IT sector — especially for those stepping into the industry today.

The Golden Period of CIMAGE and a Student Named Atul

Atul belonged to the 2012–15 batch — often described by faculty and leadership as a “golden period” in the history of CIMAGE College. He studied at the Rajapur branch, a center known not for its infrastructure, but for its extraordinary results. Despite limited resources, Rajapur consistently outperformed, thanks to its relentless focus on productivity, talent development, and value-driven education. It was here that Atul's foundations were laid — where coding wasn't just taught, but lived.

Before even completing his degree, Atul was placed in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) — a feat many students dream of. It was the beginning of a career that would span countries, projects, and most recently, technologies that are changing the future.

From Motihari to Dubai via Chennai: A Global Footprint

Atul hails from Narkatia village in East Champaran (Motihari), a background many CIMAGE students can relate to. Like countless others, he came to Patna with dreams of creating a better future. CIMAGE became the bridge between that dream and reality.

After graduating, Atul joined TCS and started his professional career in Chennai, working on critical banking applications. In 2022, post-COVID, he was relocated to Dubai, where he currently plays a crucial role in managing systems compliant with the Dubai government’s digital banking operations. His story reflects the power of determination, guided mentorship, and the role of the right institution at the right time.

CIMAGE Alumni: Leaving a Global Mark

What is remarkable is that Atul is not alone. Many of his batchmates have carved inspiring paths globally. Nikhil and Vipin Arya, both from the 2012 batch, also joined TCS and continue to thrive within the company — a testament to TCS’s strong employee retention culture. Priyanka, another peer, is currently working with TCS in Michigan, USA.

Atul, like others, continues to hold CIMAGE close to his heart. He calls it his “turning point” and shares that he never misses an opportunity to visit the campus whenever he is in Patna. The leadership at CIMAGE encourages this connection — inviting alumni back not just to relive memories, but also to inspire the next generation of learners.

The Rise of AI: A Shift in the IT Landscape

Perhaps the most powerful insight from Atul’s recent conversation with the college leadership was not just about his journey — it was about how AI is revolutionizing IT.

As someone deeply involved in enterprise-level systems at TCS, Atul sees firsthand how Artificial Intelligence is shifting the focus of the industry. He shared that TCS is now migrating its entire infrastructure to cloud-based systems, embedding AI into nearly every A-to-Z function across projects.

What does that mean for current and future students?

AI Is Changing What IT Professionals Need to Know

According to Atul, the nature of coding jobs has changed dramatically. Earlier, professionals were expected to write detailed, line-by-line code. Today, the emphasis has moved towards integration, testing, and AI-powered code review.

TCS has developed its own AI platforms capable of generating elementary code automatically. Other IT giants like Infosys, Wipro, and Cognizant are also using proprietary AI tools in development and deployment.

For students, this means learning how to use AI tools effectively is more important than memorizing syntax. AI tools can now check code, ensure industry compliance, and generate modules. The new job of an IT professional is to be a smart integrator, troubleshooter, and innovator — not just a coder.

"Make AI Your Tool, Not Your Enemy"

Atul shared a profound takeaway that every student should note:

“If you don’t make AI your weapon, you will suffer from AI’s impact. Either you suffer, or you evolve — and evolution means using AI as a tool.”

This is not just advice; it is survival wisdom. AI is not replacing IT jobs — it is redefining them. And, that’s good news. According to Atul, the demand for IT professionals will only increase because AI will expand IT into areas that were untouched before.

As proof, TCS has grown from 400,000 employees to over 600,000, making it the largest employer in India after Indian Railways. The message is clear: the future belongs to those who adapt, and AI is the key to that adaptation.

Dubai: The Emerging Global Capital of Agentic AI

Atul’s work in Dubai has opened his eyes to another revolutionary shift — the rise of Agentic AI. Dubai has positioned itself as the world’s most AI-liberal economy, offering complete regulatory freedom for the development and deployment of Agentic AI.

This freedom is attracting Indian tech startups to Dubai, where AI is already transforming fields like accounting, SEO, sales, and telecalling. While India is still developing norms around AI regulation, Dubai is inviting innovation, and professionals like Atul are at the heart of it.

He explains that Dubai is a fantastic place to live and work. While he does not plan to settle there permanently due to the shifting nature of onsite assignments, the global exposure has dramatically elevated his skills, confidence, and professional worth.

He also noted how employees sent abroad are often not brought back to India due to salary disparities — a reality that shows how international assignments can shape long-term career trajectories.

A Message to the CIMAGE Community

Atul’s story is not just a story of success — it is a roadmap. From a small village in Bihar to the tech towers of Dubai, his journey proves that where you start does not define where you can go.

He plans to visit CIMAGE’s new campus soon to meet students and share his knowledge. For the current batch, his advice is simple and powerful:

“Don’t just learn to code. Learn how to think, adapt, and use tools like AI. That’s how you build a future-proof career.”
